A festive sweet and crunchy snack mix featuring chocolate, peanut butter, and green sprinkles—perfect for celebrating St. Patricks Day.

# What You'll Need:

→ Base

01 - 9 cups rice Chex cereal

→ Chocolate & Peanut Butter Coating

02 - 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
03 - 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
04 - 1/4 cup unsalted butter
05 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Powder & Decorations

06 - 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
07 - 1/2 cup green candy melts or white chocolate chips with green food coloring
08 - 1/4 cup green and gold sprinkles
09 - 1/2 cup green chocolate candies (such as green M&Ms), optional

# Directions:

01 - Place Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
02 - In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth (about 1–2 minutes total).
03 - Stir in vanilla extract.
04 - Pour the melted mixture over the cereal and gently fold with a spatula until all pieces are evenly coated.
05 - Transfer the coated cereal to a large zip-top bag. Add powdered sugar, seal, and shake vigorously until all pieces are well coated.
06 - In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt green candy melts (or white chocolate chips with a few drops of green food coloring) in 20-second bursts, stirring until smooth.
07 - Drizzle the green candy over the puppy chow and toss gently to distribute. Spread the mixture on a lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with green and gold sprinkles and green chocolate candies. Allow to set for 10 minutes before serving.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It takes literally 20 minutes from start to finish but looks like you put way more effort in than you actually did.
  • The combination of chocolate, peanut butter, and that extra green candy drizzle makes it impossible to eat just one handful.
02 -
  • Let the chocolate mixture cool slightly before pouring it over the cereal—too hot and youll end up with soggy Chex instead of crunchy coated pieces.
  • The shake-the-bag method with powdered sugar is way less messy than trying to toss it in a bowl, and it coats everything more evenly.
03 -
  • Line your baking sheet with parchment paper before spreading the puppy chow—the cleanup is practically nonexistent compared to scraping hardened chocolate off a bare pan.
  • If your powdered sugar coating looks uneven, put the coated cereal back in the bag with another 1/4 cup of sugar and give it one more shake.
